Gender Centered

A Practical Path Through the Transgender Divide

Sports. Bathrooms. Pronouns. Puberty blockers. Every one of these debates has become a loyalty test, and both sides are working from talking points instead of evidence. This book walks through the actual science, the actual law, and the actual people, and shows you a way through that doesn't require you to hate anyone.

The questions everyone argues about

Asked honestly. Answered plainly.

Fairness in Sports

Do trans women hold an advantage in women's sports? The research is messier than either side wants you to know, and the answer changes depending on the sport, the athlete, and the age of transition.

You deserve the data, not the chant.

The Bathroom Debates

Predator panic on one side, blanket dismissal on the other. What do the incident numbers say? What does the law require? And what does a workable policy look like for a school, a gym, or a church?

There is a practical path. It just isn't on cable news.

The Biology

Is being transgender a real, measurable phenomenon or a social contagion? From brain studies to intersex conditions to hormones in the womb, the biology is real, and it is more complicated than either camp admits.

Written by someone whose own body defies the categories.
The term you may have searched for

Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria

In 2018, researcher Lisa Littman published a study describing something thousands of parents thought they were seeing: a teenager, often a girl, announcing a transgender identity seemingly out of nowhere, often alongside friends doing the same, often after long hours online. She called it rapid onset gender dysphoria, and for many families the description fit like a key in a lock.

The study also had real problems. It surveyed parents rather than teens or clinicians, and it recruited those parents from websites already skeptical of transition. The journal issued a correction. No major medical body recognizes ROGD as a diagnosis. One side now treats the term as settled science. The other treats it as debunked bigotry.

Both reactions skip the most important question: what were those parents actually seeing? Gender Centered takes the observation seriously without taking the hypothesis on faith. What looks like rapid onset from the outside is often years in the making on the inside, because a teen's private wrestling usually starts long before the announcement that blindsides the family. Onset and announcement are not the same thing, and confusing them has consequences in both directions.

The parents are not imagining things. The critics are not inventing flaws. Neither one has the whole story, and your kid deserves the whole story.

Who Is Dr. Corinne Votaw-Freer

Dr. Corinne Votaw-Freer

Intersex · Clinical Psychologist · Christian · Former Conservative Operative

Dr. Corinne Votaw-Freer has lived this debate from more angles than almost anyone writing about it. She was born intersex. She spent years inside conservative politics. She holds a doctorate in psychology and sits with real families as they navigate these questions in real time. And she writes as a Christian who takes both scripture and science seriously.

She has watched both sides distort the evidence, and she wrote this book for the people caught in the middle: parents, teachers, pastors, coaches, and anyone who suspects the truth is more interesting than the talking points.
